Easter is coming and we need to start thinking of something special to prepare to make our table unique. Regardless of the date it falls on, for me Easter has always been a symbol of rebirth and generally marks the transition from winter to spring and we all want to bring some freshness to our tables after the long winter months that have just passed.

How to set the Easter table

For me, it is one of the most beautiful celebrations of family sharing and gathering, and I find there is no better way to do this than to organise a beautiful table to which we invite everyone we love. Depending on the latitude, some lucky people will be able to have lunch outdoors, perhaps with a nice picnic on the grass, while others will organise lunch at home.

In any case, my suggestion for this occasion is to bring spring to the table, setting the table with the pastel colours that bloom outside our windows and in our gardens. Trovandoci quindi alle porte della primavera, utilizzerei colori gioiosi che mescolati sapientemente diano il risultato di una tavola piuttosto eclettica e gaia: il giallo è naturalmente un colore bello e Yellow is of course a beautiful and very suitable colour, reminiscent of the first flowers to bloom, a colour full of energy and positivity. Ben venga allora il colore delle primule o il più vivace colore del sole!

The Easter table in shades of pink

For my first suggestion for the Easter table, I naturally thought of pink tones, enlivened by the stripes of the new collection. Capri. I used a pure linen tablecloth in a delicate Rapa colour, then I matched it with a striped runner used as a table centrepiece and some linen place mats treated against stains in the pattern. toile de jouy color talco. I completed the table with napkins with thinner stripes than those on the runner. This is the Portofino row also in Rapa colour. I have given them a fresh touch by knotting them and placing them on the plate, so they look a bit like a bunny's ears. Perfect for the Easter theme, isn't it?

Yellow and blue: Easter table settings in the colours of spring

As a second proposal, I thought of the clear April sky and combined the blue of the linen tablecloth with fresh yellow Limoncello placemats. In this case, too, I placed a runner in the centre of the table, but this time I chose the Lipari striped light blue version.

For the napkins, I opted for the fluffyGitane which recalls the softness of petals and which goes well with the crockery I chose: I had an exceptional set of dishes with small an exceptional set of dishes, with small plates and Cornflower paintings. This is a very rare service, which I had bought with the idea of offering it to you in a special section of the site, Carpe Diem, where you can find the objects I find around the world for you!

Even in the choice of the few details I played the blue card, declined in several tones, from the glasses in glass with bubbles to the bread basket in stain-resistant fabric, coordinated with my tablecloth.

Stripes and checks: a surprising and cheerful proposal

Lastly, I have a third, more eclectic and lively proposal which sees a fresh blue checked tablecloth as a base, combined instead with pink details. I have in fact superimposed talcum-coloured Toile de jouy under plates and used them as small individual runners. I placed a runner lengthwise on the table in Capri stripes and completed it with Gitane napkins in the same colour as the tablecloth. For the bread I also played on the tidy effect, choosing a bread basket with Rapa stripes but in the version of the narrow Portofino stripes!

What to choose for the Easter centrepiece?

For a festive table, I would recommend placing flowers in the centre of the table. I have chosen flowers I particularly love, hellebores, in different shades of green and mauve. The hellebore is a common Mediterranean plant with beautiful flowers of different colours. It grows wild in clearings and its somewhat random and untidy appearance makes it a small flowering plant that I love for decorating a spring table. I placed a few seedlings in a papier-mâché pot and covered the roots with fresh moss.
If you wish, you can place some eggs of different colours and sizes on the table, from very small quail eggs to large white goose eggs. Have fun decorating them if you wish with your children, with little white squiggles like lace, or do as I do and leave them as they are, with their natural colours. A tastier idea? Use sugar eggs and white chocolate eggs, and at the end of the meal, let the children break them.

How about setting the table in shades of sage and blue?

These are delicate colors even if not bright, which remind me so much of the olive tree traditionally blessed for this holiday. Imagine a table where you can use a base such as light blue and on which to recall the sage color of the border with napkins or runners finished in a delicate silver embroidery. I would place as a centerpiece some olive tree brunches, with its gray-green colors that matches perfectly with our tablesetting. Then, among the branches, or in glass bowls of different heights and sizes, some eggs of different colors and sizes, from the very small quails ones to large white goose ones.

Have fun and decorate them if you wish with your children, with small white squiggles like lace, or do like me and leave them as they are, with their natural colors. A more gluttonous idea? Use eggs in sugar and others in white chocolate, and at the end of the meal, let the children break them. For glasses go for the classic or at most use glass with a light green color. If you have the opportunity, set the table with cream-colored vintage plates, perhaps with a light floral decoration. Alternatively I could suggest our very elegant ivory melamine plates with relief decoration. Finally, complete the table with sage-colored linen napkins or alternating them with blue, perhaps also with an embroidered silver profile.

Another idea could be to set your table with pink and white tones that this season are a real explosion of color on the fruit trees. To make the combination more elegant, I would personally opt for a slightly duller and more orange tobality than the classic candy pink and mix it with different shades of ivory and hemp color.

Choosing among the colors of our collections, I would then use the ivory color perhaps in the Gitane version for the basic tablecloth and then I would add some Hemp-colored runners and placemats from the Petali series in the Sunrise print, Desert Rose color.

I would alternate the napkins in these three colors of the Gitane napkin with its romantic linen gauze ruffles, as light as petals. As a centerpiece, get some branches of Cherry or white Ellebori. Crystal glasses if possible a little retro and ivory plates! Finally, get some white chocolate eggs decorated by your confectioner and use them as a small gift and place card for your guests: I can already imagine the cloud effect of this table! Welcome spring, and Happy Easter to all!
